Giving back is part of who we are
We support and empower our employees in whatever way they decide to give, be it monetary or time-driven donations. We provide two days of paid time off to volunteer per year to make it easier for associates to support charitable causes.

Our charitable giving efforts are focused on the areas of arts & culture, science and education, health, civic/social projects, demographic change, natural catastrophes, and the environment. As an organization, we endeavor to support and enable volunteer activities in our community, provide relief in times of disaster, and sponsor non-profits whose goals align with our corporate values.

American Modern is a Sustaining Platinum Sponsor of the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce, as well as a member of the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce.

Sustainability efforts

The Green Team, a Munich Re US regional employee resource group that initially began at American Modern, is focused on increasing employee awareness of the company’s sustainable initiatives while educating and encouraging greener practices both on campus and at home.

A hybrid work environment allows employees to work at least a portion of their time remotely, thus reducing carbon emissions that would be created during a commute to the office.
American Modern is committed to reducing its impact on the environment
Green electricity

Our over 500,000 square foot campus in Amelia, Ohio is 100% powered by green electricity provided by wind power.

Carbon footprint

Our campus has had more than a 70% reduction in our carbon footprint since 2013 thanks to several initiatives such as the installation of LED lighting, compostable flatware and containers in our cafeteria, and campus-wide recycling programs. Our current goal is to achieve an additional 22% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions per employee from 2019-2025.

Recycling

In 2022, we recycled over 23 tons of paper, saving nearly 391 trees. In addition, comingled recycling containers, which can be found in various areas across campus, empowered employees to help us recycle more than 44,000 pounds just this past year alone.

Diversity, equity & inclusion
Diversity involves all the ways that people are different, including the different characteristics that make one group or individual different from another. Equity aims to ensure the fair treatment, access, equality of opportunity, and advancement opportunities for everyone. Inclusion builds a culture that supports and embraces differences, offers respect for every person in words and actions, and actively invites every person or every group to contribute and participate.

Employees are encouraged to join and get involved in one or more employee resource groups. With nine to choose from, you’re bound to find something you’re personally passionate about:
